RIGHT, NOMAD IS OFFICIALLY OVER! ):
Sorry for the late update! It was due to the intensive trainings till 10pm, right to the actual days!
Lets start
waaaaay from the beginning of the first day of NOMAD.
IT WAS A BLAST.
Went to school, after the whole day of preview of the performance the day before. Felt really sleepy, yet hyper and excited for the performance later. Paid attention attentively in class, and soon, without knowing it, school's over at 10:10am! Went back home, had a shower and lunch, and off to school. The moment i reached school at around 1:30pm, all of my seniors were already preparing all the cosmetics and stuffs at our green room, the AVA room. We had to bring the costumes and props up from the Heritage Gallery, and it was quite a mad rush as we had to get ready by 6:30pm! Considering the fact that we had put on thick make-up for the preview the day before, so it was no surprise that we had to do the same thing over again for this actual day

Teamwork in progress!
We had to get our hair ready, which took each of us a rather a period of time to complete. 8 girls, multiply by around 10 minutes, already equals to 80minutes, 1 hour and 20 minutes! Occurs during the make-up too, and you can imagine how hectic during that time. Fortunately, thanks to the professional make-up artists who did our make-up just on time, we managed to finished dressing up by 5pm, which was our dinner break. Our feelings were mixed with anxiety, nervousness and excitement as we ate our dinner while waiting for the time for us to standby! Soon, time flew by and it was already close to 6pm. We did our final touch-up, and off we went.. to standby for the opening ceremony at around 6:30pm.
YOU CAN'T IMAGINE THE MIXED FEELINGS WE HAD DURING THAT MOMENT. The feeling was, rather extraordinary because it was like, time flew so fast it was already the actual day, actual moment for us to perform in front of real audience from outside who paid a hefty amount just to watch us perform! We waited rather restlessly, because obviously, we were really dead nervous. Soon, the audience started streaming in, filling the whole of the audience area packed like a can of sardines.
The host kickstart the opening ceremony with a mighty welcoming speech to welcome all the audience, and soon, the ceremony began!
The actors did a wonderful job, not to forget the contemporary dancers too! Soon, it was our turn to perform as the male lead actor began singing. We danced gracefully to our position, and began performing with our umbrellas .. With bright smiles lighting up our faces, we graced the whole performance. Our performance indicate peace, calmness and happiness, and i believed we did quite a good job as i could see the audience enjoyed our performance tremendously. Without knowing it, the song played wonderfully by the Band started to end as we danced our way back to our standby area.
We went back performing again, after the actors said out the inspirational speeches, and also during the part when the choir sang.. This time, we went in as garden.. The feeling was awesome. We danced gracefully and merrily to the tune of the song, until .. BAMM the peaceful music was overwhelmed by the loud music from the band that indicate fire! chaos! uncertainty! The contemporary dancers, being the fire, started dashing in slowly, and we began to run around in horror! Oh the chaos! I fell down and had to crawl backwards quickly, away from the fire and nightmare! It was a frenzy, and all of the Malay dancers ran back to our standby area again!
What a show, right? :D
And finally, the opening ceremony was over and the audience started roaming around our school for other performances, till the closing ceremony where the story continues ..
TIME FOR PICTURES! (some are maybe from the 2nd day of NOMAD, and all of the pictures are also maybe taken before the opening ceremony, or during our holding area before the closing ceremony)

I love this one!

Anyways, time flew rather rapidly till about 9pm, and we already had to go down to standby for the grand finale! We missed the part of the paper aeroplanes flying in from the 3rd storey thrown by the students. I kinda like that part. :) Alright, the audience probably noticed that the Malay Dancers (already so outstanding with the costume and make-up, and not to forget the humongous shiny flowers) were standing by, almost in no time, they already began to fill the audience area again. All the IAP performers also began to standby around the school. The host once again kick-started the closing ceremony by asking all the audience to gather at the parade square. The 5 principles were already standing by on the raised platform.
Eerie music began filling the whole school. The contemporary dancers began to walk around the parade square, with bamboo poles on their hands. The whole ambiance was scary, and filled with somber and sadness. The dim lights add in to the dramatic effect, making it even more scarier. All the faces of the dancers were genuinely stiff and emotionless, making the whole performance much more convincing. Convincing as the performance was to indicate the feeling of lost, uncertainty and fear. They began arranging themselves in a messy manner, linking all their poles together, as if to prevent the 5 principles from escaping past through them.
The actors began to act. I can't help but watch the actors in awe! They performed really well and very convincingly. I could already feel the message they wanted to bring to the audience. The message of despite being lost, and helpless, there's still a glimmer of hope they have to look towards to. Dinie, one of the 5 principles, was the one who gave hope to Hassan, that there's still hope! I totally agree with her, "Even though we cant do big things, we CAN do small things to make the world a better place," and she continued, "And all we have to do is imagine, and dream, dream, DREAM!" and also, "we have to catch the flame! CATCH THE FLAME!"
Tinkling music overwhelmed the eerie music, and Dinie began her speech.
"
The Flame is, thirst for knowledge so we can think and be discerning, The Flame is, always be curious so we can be engaged in the world we live in, The Flame is, make choices that bridge rather than divide, The Flame is, be creative, think positive and reach out. The Flame is, an attitude, the Flame is, an action!"And all the 5 principles began singing the FLAME SONG! The contemporary dancers, from being the emotionless, scary dancers, immediately became cheerful and happy as they danced gracefully to the FLAME SONG. It was a pretty sight! The whole performance immediately lit the whole school up, and the song was over within a few minutes. We began to get ready.
"You see? We can do it!" Dinie exclaimed.
And the 5 principles began singing another song. As they sang the part when they said "Today.." repetitively, we began walking gracefully to our starting position in the center of the parade square, surrounded by the IAP performers gathering around the whole parade square. Another music began to play.. and we went into the center stage and performed with our flowers. The boys were given golden flowers with lights on it, and it was such a wonderful sight! The IAP performers began to sway to the soft, comforting music as we performed.
As we finished sitting around in a circle with flowers in our hands.. THE FLAME SONG BEGAN, AND ALL OF US BEGAN TO STAND UP AND CLAP JOYFULLY TO THE BEAT OF THE MUSIC!
"The Flame is, thirst for knowledge so we can think and be discerning, The Flame is, always be curious so we can be engaged in the world we live in, The Flame is, make choices that bridge rather than divide, The Flame is, be creative, think positive and reach out. The Flame is, an attitude, the Flame is, an action!"
"MOVE YOUR HANDS!
MOVE YOUR FEET!
OPEN YOUR HEART!
CATCH THE FLAME, CATCH THE FLAME!"
"MOVE YOUR HANDS!
MOVE YOUR FEET!
OPEN YOUR HEART!
CATCH THE FLAME, CATCH THE FLAME!"
"WITH THE LIGHT IN OUR HANDS!"
WOOHOO! WE SCREAMED ENTHUSIASTICALLY. We were surrounded by the thunderous clapping of the audience, and the feeling was definitely the best i've ever had! The hit song, Baby by Justin Bieber began to fill the whole school and all of us performers began to dance super happily to the music! All of us were practically singing our heart out to the chorus. We danced like mad, and all of us the performers were already drenched with perspiration when we began to sit down after the song ended.
We were dismissed accordingly soon after, and went back home with smiles lit on our faces as we anticipated the 2nd day.
The 2nd day was the exact feeling we had as the first day, but this time with much more confidence thanks to the positive feedback we had from our teacher-in-charge. We performed with our energy at our highest peak level, and i can tell we really went all out. There was much more audience during the 2nd day compared to the first day, and after each of our performance, thunderous clapping from the audience were heard.
The finale was as awesome as ever, as everyone began to unite harmoniously as we sang and dance to the FLAME song together. Everything went perfectly well, the opening ceremony kick-started the whole night, and the finale ended in a really awesome way too.
I have learnt a lot from this experience. I've learnt a lot about bonding with other people, and i have made many new friends too! For all the time, effort we sacrificed for the whole one and a half month, everything we did really paid off tremendously. I enjoyed every second, every minute of the trainings we had, despite the fact it really tires us at the end of the trainings. It was the best moment of my life, and i can never forget this wonderful experience i've had, and will never will. I felt kind of sad and dissapointed knowing that it is my last time performing for NOMAD, but no matter what, i will definitely look forward to the next NOMAD event and help in whatever i can to make it a successful one!
Here are all the remaining pictures, to remind me of NOMAD,
which will be everlasting in this blog.
Both nights will forever be etched in my heart.
The best. ever.
